Built from the Ground Up in Western New York
Justin Schultz and Sean Connors started small — a CBD brand called Mend Botanics, focused on small-batch tinctures, topicals, and gummies, all third-party lab tested and sold through local bars, restaurants, and farmers markets. No big launch, no outside investment — just two people from Western New York building trust one product and one customer at a time.
The rebrand to Bison Botanics came as the business grew and their focus deepened. The name is a deliberate nod to where they’re from. This is a Buffalo brand, and they’ve never been shy about that.
Rooted in Local Farm Partnerships
In 2019, Bison Botanics formed partnerships with farms just outside Buffalo at a time when those cultivators were struggling to find reliable outlets for their harvests. Rather than sourcing from distant suppliers, Justin and Sean saw an opportunity to build something sustainable and mutually beneficial right in their own backyard. Those same farm relationships still provide the cannabis behind their hand-trimmed flower and extracts today.
It’s a supply chain built on community rather than convenience, and it shows in the product.
Community as the Foundation
Bison Botanics is explicit about what drives them: community, education, and a genuine respect for the plant. From their early days at farmers markets to their current position as a licensed cannabis manufacturer, public education has been a consistent thread. They believe that informed customers make better decisions, and they’ve invested in that belief through every stage of their growth.
