Vegetables came first, and the same philosophy that shaped those crops shapes the cannabis they grow today.
Regenerative agriculture gets thrown around a lot in marketing. At Rural Resurgence, it means something specific. No synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. No tilling, so the soil structure and fungal networks that develop season over season stay intact. Compost made on the farm from vegetables, cow manure, and woodchips. Cover crops that fix nitrogen naturally and keep the soil healthy between harvests. Companion planting with clover between cannabis rows. The Concept of Terroir

Rural Resurgence uses a word that’s more common in wine country than cannabis: terroir. It refers to the complete natural environment in which something is grown — the soil, the topography, the climate — and the way that environment expresses itself in the final product. It’s the idea that where something comes from matters, and that a healthy ecosystem produces something fundamentally different from a controlled one.
